One of my best friends lives in Orange County and is witnessi
ng the terrible fires in Southern California. Luckily and thankfully, she and her family are safe. She shared this photo, taken from a friend’s backyard, earlier this week. It would be cool if it weren’t so scary.
All my best to my dear friend and her SoCal neighbors.
There’s a lot going on in the news, here’s what is catching my eye:
DeGeneres cancels taping after dog flap (Well, I have been holding off on commenting on this "Iggy" situation. I have to say, please give the dog a good home… the home that already loves him.)
Rowling Visits U.S. in "Open Book Tour" (I would give my left arm for a signed copy of a Harry Potter book! But, I am not a 10-year old… I understand! I’m just happy that kids are flocking to an author, rather than Hannah Montana.)
Check out this link to find television coverage of Shawn Johnson Day. (Click on the left-hand side of the page.) The news story also tells us that Shawn has signed Adidas as a major sponsor. The same company who signed David Beckham? Wow.
This Iowa girl is proud of Shawn, another Iowa girl!
Iowa Governor Chet Culver will host an event at the Iowa State Historical Building this afternoon to celebrate and honor the world gymnastics champion hailing from West Des Moines, Iowa! The event is free and open to the public, details can be found here.
In case you missed it, here is Shawn’s appearance on Ellen last week. She was adorable and represented the state of Iowa and the sport of gymnastics well.
I know I am looking like a stalker, but I just heard that Shawn Johnson will be on Ellen on Monday, October 8. The show teaser called her "the next Mary Lou Retton." I’ll post video clips when they are available.
I have a confession: I watch "Dancing with the Stars." It’s not Laptop Television, it’s just something I have on the tube while I play with my daughter before bed time. I actually use the show to expose her to dancing and my love for dancing. "This is a waltz, this is a quick-step." (That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.)
Well, last week was amazing. "Dancing with the Stars" featured one of my all-time favorite dancers and one of the best tappers in the world: Savion Glover. Wow. For those of you who missed it, here’s the clip from YouTube:
Here’s my take so far. Keep in mind, I have been super-busy, so I also am super-behind on my shows. Oh yes, and my baby turned 3 so I have been busy with her pink extravaganza birthday party!
My favorites are back!
The Office (Last week’s episode — the Rabies Fun Run — was freaking hilarious. Seriously, laugh-out-loud funny. Nearly on-par with the Gay Witch Hunt episode! And I am not superstitious, just a little stitious.)
Boston Legal (Great writing, great acting, fantastic show!)
Desperate Housewives (Trashy drama, love it!)
Dancing with the Stars (Don’t tell anyone.)
The Biggest Loser (Seriously, please don’t tell anyone.)
Oprah, Ellen, Stewart, Leno, Conan. (Talk-shows are great LTV, especially when I work until 1 a.m.)
Can’t wait to watch.
30 Rock (Jerry Seinfeld is on this Thursday… don’t miss!)
New to my TiVo, will watch again.
Cane (Sigh, Jimmy Smits.)
New to my TiVo, jury is still out.
Dirty Sexy Money
Back to You
Chuck (I am married to a geek, so I really wanted to love this show.)
Patiently waiting on my TiVo.
CSI Miami
Big Shots
Grey’s Anatomy
ER
Two and a Half Men
‘Til Death
Ugly Betty
Bionic Woman
Life
I obviously do not have time to watch all the shows waiting for me on my TiVo. Any suggestions for must-see or must-skip are appreciated!
