Oh dear lord... how have I not heard of this book before? THANK YOU! I will be picking it up immediately... Glad to know there's a greater meaning to all of my embarassing moments. Who doesn't love a trustworthy person right? p.s. I love your super loud laugh...

I don't think any of my high school or college friends would ever wonder why I am able to roll with the punches, because they know I've had my share of instances where it was simply mandatory. Many of those involve my first car - still near and dear - The Comet and wishing for time travel ability to go back to undo my stupidity. Alas, instead, we learn from those experiences, and like that commented already, these shared experiences are what create real bonds of compassion, friendship and for some secrets, loyalty (umm, no Mr. BestFriend'sDad, I don't know how the car sped through that fence!).

I've had so many embarrassing moments that I can't even count them any more. I can't wait to pick up the book for my friends and me. Like Nicole said, all of those embarrassing moments are probably why those friends are still in our lives. :-)

I really enjoyed reading your article and can't wait to go out and get the book. Is Kristin really the name of your friend or have you changed her name to protect her identity? ;-)I've got a friend that can bring out some crazy laughing spurts in me and reading your article reminded me that I need to send her an email right away!

Great post! I know what book I'm going to pick up next time I'm at Borders. I'll have to grab two copies. One for me and one for my best friend since 2nd grade. Thankfully, we're both people who have experienced many embarassing moments and STILL laugh about them to this very day. Probably a big reason why we're still best friends... Thanks for sharing!

I love that loud laugh of yours... helps make me feel better about my own loud laugh.

And seriously, I would never have pegged you for a private person. Or maybe I've just been lucky enough to have lots of laughable moments with you. :)

What a great idea! You've inspired me to pass this book on to someone with great spirit and energy and the humility to be able to laugh at herself now and then.

I'd love to meet Kristin! I especially appreciated your description of her, ie "being goofy to the point of wrong." Your appreciation of your friend is very touching. A main theme of the book is definitely connection and what it means to feel "connected" to other human beings. To me, it's one of the most important experiences we can have in life. Thanks so much for reading, and also for your post.
