I have heard actual journalists call tomorrow’s big election day "Super Duper Tuesday." (Wow. I have a three-year old, and even I skip the "duper" part.) Well, the debate is heating up in California and *all* sides are passionately sharing opinions. Interestingly enough, in my blogger-world, the Democrats are blogging a lot more than the Republicans.
I’m not sure anyone is listening while they are talking, but I find the following posts (and comments) quite interesting:
If you have opinions to share, please include thoughts and links in the comments section of LTV! If you have none to share publicly, I understand (I am unusually quiet about my voting patterns), just be sure to get out and VOTE! I will proudly take my daughter to vote tomorrow.
Thanks to the Hollywood writer’s
strike, I have time to clean out my TiVo and watch some old shows. The
other day I watched an Oprah rerun called “Going
Green 101: Resources for your Family.” Oprah’s guests had a call-to-action
to encourage families to change how they live in an effort to protect the environment,
including
Reuse
aluminum foil
Turn
off the water faucet while brushing your teeth
Limit
showers to 10 minutes, use warm water instead of hot water
Unplug
appliances when you leave the house
Turn
down the thermostat at night
Donate
old clothes and shoes instead of throwing them away
Honestly, when I heard these tips, I
laughed out loud. I grew up in a house that practiced each of these suggestions
because we needed to save money, not because we wanted to save the Earth. Wow,
looks like my mom is not a cheap-skate after all, she is an environmentalist
who was way ahead of her time!
Mom, I apologize for all the
eye-rolls and back-talk when you made me rinse out the Ziplock bags so we could
reuse them… especially now that I am practicing what you have always
preached.
I saw it on Leno, found it on Jib-Jab, had to get the link on YouTube. (Go figure!) Regardless, here’s a great recap of 2007. (Um, way better than the LTV Mom recap):
Happy Hanukkah to my family and friends (and especially to you, Oma and Opa!) Enjoy this hilarious (and somewhat schmaltzy) Adam Sandler holiday classic!
One of my best friends lives in Orange County and is witnessi
ng the terrible fires in Southern California. Luckily and thankfully, she and her family are safe. She shared this photo, taken from a friend’s backyard, earlier this week. It would be cool if it weren’t so scary.
All my best to my dear friend and her SoCal neighbors.
